I've previously purchased two pairs of the Rainier Men's Travel Tech Pants WITHOUT the Expandable Waist. I prefer them to the expandable waist model. They were a better fit in the waist and their flexibility was enough not to require the expandable waist. The expandable waist model pants are initially tighter in the waist and a bit less comfortable around the waist due to the expandability.
